Rows Garden #3

The 1927 Yankees finished the season with a record of 110-44 (.714) and went on to sweep the Pittsburgh Pirates in the World Series. Seven of its members, including Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, were later inducted into the Hall of Hame.

I’m happy to share another embedded rows garden puzzle; many thanks, again, to Amuse Labs for making it possible. If you chose to solve here online, note that the groups of ‘rose blooms’ are not clued in order; you’ll need to use the row answers to figure out where to plant each bloom.

If you prefer to solve on paper, pdfs of regular (bloom categories clued in the order in which they appear in the garden) and thorny versions (blooms clued out of order) are presented below.

Rows gardens are my favorite kind of variety puzzle. If you haven’t tried one before, let me know what you think. And if you do them all the time, I welcome your input as well!

    That was terrific! Fresh fill – esp. D2, G2, J2 – and some really fun clues (esp. F2, K2, second light clue, first dark clue. Overall pretty challenging but quite fair. (Solved on paper)

      One nit – assuming I have the correct answer for roly-poly, the clue shouldn’t indicate a hyphenation.

      Thank you, Jeff! You’re my first visitor to provide feedback on a rows garden after solving. This one was especially fun to make. I’m assuming you did the thorny version? I was mulling my options for the second light clue, then had that band name emerge from the cobwebs of my memory! (I wouldn’t be able to whistle a single song of theirs…)

    Very challenging and very fun! (Thorny version took me almost 29 minutes even with some light cheating by the end.) Is there a solution file as well?
