When I see grid shapes I like, or that appear especially challenging to work with, I sometimes try to take a stab at making my own version. Alas, this particular grid defeated me: I had to add the block between 1- and 5-Across. I came close, but no cigar.
Favorite clue: 2-Down.

Very nice! If I hadn’t put “ROCK” in for 5A, I would’ve had a bit of an easier time. Then I kept hearing Dick Vitale talking about “the rock.” If you are eer in Oslo, the 17A museum is a must-see.
Thanks so much for solving, Jeff. I had b-ball on the brain while I was clueing the first row! I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t get to the Munch Museum when I was in Oslo in 2022. My time there was limited, so it dropped off the long list. I’ll be back, though; I have Norwegian heritage, so plan a longer, deeper dive trip.
