I really liked the grid shape of Ryan Patrick Smith’s* midi (“Get Out Your Rulers”) on Puzzmo today (11/26), in particular the fact that each of the 4 9-letter entries crossed two others, so I decided to see what I could do with it. I’ve been wanting to use 13-Across in a puzzle for a while, so that was my seed. I fiddled around with trying to keep all four 9-letter entries related to a particular topic – one that won’t be difficult to figure out – and when I could, I tried to fit in as many references to that topic as I could throughout the puzzle.
I’m happy with how it turned out and hope it’s a fun solve. Comments, as always, are welcome.
*Ryan is, among many things, a talented constructor of both crosswords and cryptics; check out his puzzles at Real Puzzling Stuff. I had the pleasure of sitting next to him at this year’s ACPT, where he was a finalist in the C Division, finishing 46th out of 787 entrants (😲).
Happy Thanksgiving!
