Here’s another themeless, which, to borrow The New Yorker‘s terminology, I would categorize as a ‘beginner-friendly solve.’ At ACPT a couple of weeks ago, Mike Shenk (the Wall Street Journal’s longtime puzzle editor) noted how Lynn Lempel – this year’s winner of the Merl Reagle MEmoRiaL Award – is a master of matching the difficulty of her clues to the difficulty of the grid. I’ve tried to do that here: have straightforward clueing for straightforward fill.
