Yesterday afternoon, I hopped on I-95 North for a trip to the nearest Costco warehouse. Despite traveling that stretch of highway literally hundreds of times over the years, yesterday was the first time that passing a sign with 20-Across on it immediately triggered thoughts of 57-Across. Could I have found a workable theme for a crossword (albeit a very straightforward one)? After returning home from my errands and doing a bit of noodling, I found that, indeed, I had. I was also happy to include a few theme-adjacent entries.

    Nice! I’m impressed how quickly you pulled together such a smooth puzzle. I was hoping you’d work in a name from the last Knicks championship team. I was a rabid Knicks fan in those glory days – Reed, Frazier, DeBusschere, Bradley, Cazzie Russell, Earl the Pearl Monroe. I don’t follow professional basketball much anymore, but I’m definitely rooting for the Knicks this year.

    Thanks, Jeff! I had to move quickly so I could post while the NBA finals were still underway, and I was fortunate the fill ended up flowing smoothly. I was delighted to be able to include nods to both Bradley and Monroe and to include 4- and 55-Down as well. Quite fortuitous!
