In my post of May 31st, I mentioned my visit, on a rainy day over Memorial Day weekend, to a used bookstore with some friends. I bought five books and used the epigraph from one of them – “Wildland: The Making of America’s Fury”, by Evan Osnos – for Acrostic #18. Today, I’m using one of two epigraphs from another of my purchases: Jennifer Egan’s 2011 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, “A Visit from the Goon Squad”; I’ve been meaning to read it for years (too many books of interest, too little time).

Special thanks to Jeff Linder, who, after solving, pointed me in the direction of a much better clue for Y.

    I think this was your best acrostic yet, even though I don’t entirely agree with the quote – to me, old haunts often bring back old thoughts, behaviors, and feelings. There are so many good fill words and clues. I especially enjoyed the clues for H, Y, and DD, and A, D, J, AA, and DD are all fresh fill. I feel like the answer in A might be a good revealer, perhaps for a word ladder connecting two opposite moods. There’s probably also a good clue for Y involving grass courts. And DD would be a perfect way to clue the “SS” letter combination in a cryptic puzzle.
