The New York Times Book Review has a regular ‘Quiz Bowl’ feature. On occasion it tests one’s knowledge of ‘Literary Quotable Quotes’. The most recent entry in the series included this introduction:
As the new school year gets underway, this week’s installment is devoted to quotations about learning and education from works by popular authors.
All five quotes were terrific; I chose this one:

Fun, thanks JDB! I bounced off of almost every clue at first but a little help from the quote got me moving. The apostrophes were quite handy.
Whenever I see those statues I have to do a double take to make sure I’m not looking at the entrance of the Art Institute here in Chicago. (Ours are patinaed bronze and also they are standing so it’s a quick double take.)
Thanks for solving, Eric! The Art Institute is one of my favorite museums, though it’s been a few years since I was last there (2018, for a John Singer Sargent exhibit). Will you be participating in the Midwest Crossword Tournament on October 3rd? I’d considered attending in person but opted for the online version. Maybe I’ll ‘see’ you in the chat!
I’ve been an AIC member for years, it’s one of my happy places. And yes I *am* planning to participate in MWXWT, so I’ll say hi in the chat. One of these days I’ll go in person, I’m only about half an hour from the UIC campus, but social anxiety makes these things extra challenging in person so it’s online again this year.
